Maybe you SZ guys are lucky because SZ, TZ and some other models seem to have the additional SPIC device in addition to SFEP. Sony provides 64bit drivers for both but e.g. on AR models there's only SFEP – no other unknown device.
All Sony Shared Library installs I tried resulted in failing DMICall.sys.

On AR the DMICall.sys driver is supposed to provide special keys whereas on SZ apparently the failing DMICall.sys doesn't matter at all.

I just did a simple test with the original Sony OS image to get this confirmed:
Used tool AutoRuns http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb963902.aspx to disable driver DMICall.sys. Reboot - no special keys working anymore (except volume+mute of course), S-Button won't even show up in VAIO Control Center. Enabled DMICall.sys, after reboot everything working again.

Without a x64 version of DMICall.sys installing any Sony driver or util stuff does not make any sense on my machine. I don't even need volume UI. Also I'm glad there's Windows Mobility Center (Win+X) - not as fast as special keys but at least the system's cleaner, fewer processes...

If anyone has special keys working on AR with Vista64 plz let me know!

We know by now how to reconstruct a XP install disk (thanks Akash84) which accepts the original licence laptop number (see: http://www.club-vaio.com/clubvaio/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=36891 ,just make sure you copy DPCDLL.DL_ as well which was missing from the list).

We also know that drivers and utilities are available on the Sony site (but see below as it's not required to go there to get them) but what about pre-installed applications that one want to restore? Here come the recovery DVDs.

If you have not done it yet, create recovery DVDs using the VAIO recovery tool from the start menu. You will end up with one System restore and one Applications restore DVD.

TURN OFF AUTORUN on the DVD-Drive and insert System Restore DVD in Windows. You well see a VAIO Applications Folder on the DVD which contains all drivers, Sony Utilities and even Windows Hotfixes for your VAIO (no need to use SONY site at all to get them). Just copy the VAIO Applications folder to your PC after Clean Install and use it for installing drivers, utilities etc...

Now the Pre-installed applications:
Insert the second DVD (Applications Restore).
This one has all the pre-installed applications but you cannot select any of them because they are all packed with SONY proprietary packer and there's apparently no mean to selectively install any of them. right? wrong ;o)

Copy the entire Restore Applications DVD on your hard drive
Download this file (kcap.exe) at: http://www.math.utexas.edu/users/rogoyski/work/tr5ap_winxp/kcap.exe ,this file will expand any xxxx.pac file. You will then get the application setup for each and also get user name (generally Sony Customer if not for all of them) and serial number for each that requires one (read inst.wsf in Notepad (in the BAT folder of the expanded xxx.pac file)).

Do not drag drop on kcap as this will not do anything but use the command window (Start, Run, type CMD, enter) and type:
[path to kpac.exe] kpac.exe [path to the pac file] xxxx.pac [destination of the pac file].

example: d:\kcap.exe d:\VAIO_Save\APR\SP-010849-00.pac d:\VAIO_Extract

(In this example the DVD content was copied to d:\VAIO_Save, kpac.exe is on d:\, the pac file SP-010849-00.pac is located in VAIO_Save\APR folder and the expanded pac.file will be extracted in d:\VAIO_Extract (you may want to create this folder first).

The kcap utility will create a folder with the pac file name with all files in it. Use setup to install the application (read inst.wsf (or other available files) from the BAT folder of each extracted pac file in notepad to know what application it is if it's not obvious and to get username and serial number when one is required).

Once you have extracted all pac files, it would certainly be a good idea to burn all of them to DVD. At the end of the day you should end up with one OEM retail XP CD accepting you Windows Licence number (using instructions from previous post (thanks Akash84) )and several CDs or DVDs with all pre-installed sofware. Thanks SONY for not providing them in the first place (but at least we now know how to get around).

親愛的...在10天就可以看到你了

真的宅了我...
還有10天才看得我的新機AR-770
忍不住到VAIO歐洲抓3D互動圖來偷看她，解饞一下
各地的VAIO網頁差異可以說不小
網頁配置完全不同外(我最喜歡歐洲這個3D產品介面，但日本還是最詳細)
連周邊也有極大差異
日本平均水準還是最高
但是歐洲也不差
美國比較傾向...你有本事的話可以挖到好東西
像這個VAIO跟Targus合作的17"後背包(17"包有多難找...用過的都知道><)

就只有歐洲的VAIO有賣
TARGUS的網站有介紹
但你也不能透過TARGUS買...
妙的是...我最後是在美國的一家購物網站上面買到@@
大陸也有一家有賣.價錢更只有一半.
但..一來不熟沒人可以代買....
2來黑心的可能性80%
量那麼少怎麼可能只有半價@@

台灣SONY??
連逛都不想逛...

愛買水貨不是沒原因的

因為目前用的攝影機VICTOR HD7我要帶出去用
廖妹他們需要簡單、小台不差的機器來拍Alvin的生長
剛好因為簡志寬認識了牟先生
所以就直接買SONY的TG1日本國內機
TG1入選的原因為
在NOVA幫ANNIE的TZ加RAM的路上看到它<---有點瞎我承認
他是目前世界最小..300g!
Full HD畫質(AVCHD系統紀錄格式AVC=H.264)
Annie的VAIO　TZ可以one click to DVD
用MS卡當紀錄媒介
可以瞬間開機
對於小ALVIN瞬息萬變的表情來說...TG1為記錄他成長的最佳選擇

日本國內機比較便宜就算了(約便宜NT 7000)
美國版的話，加完加州稅，以1:30的匯率大約才快台幣30000
也比台灣的34900便宜
台灣、美國機附的MS DUO卡是 4GB
日本版硬是附8GB.....
X的太黑了吧台灣SONY

再度為買電腦苦惱

BUG家三樓客廳的桌上
很生活、隨意的擺了三台VAIO....和一台"軍用"螢幕
但...沒有一台是我專用的@@也沒有一台是我想買的
因為八月的遠行...
一定得帶一台筆電
也因為BUG我有特別的"癖好"
一定要買大螢幕(17"左右+ FULL HD限定)、大鍵盤
所以能買的就那幾台
目前Acer的8920G跟6920G
在CP值上最優
但維修跟機器持久度這兩點很讓人擔心
尤其我又屬於虐待型的主人
目前撐最久的是VAIO SRX-7
整整在我家七年
其他的就....
也因此
TOSHIBA第一個屏除在外
P25-S670給我的印象太差了，3年就掛了，來回修這幾次真的很不爽
ASUS...X
ACER 8920G 5萬多台幣我會考慮
~~SONY AR系不見更新...價格也...所以 X~~
Allien Ware重的點不是我要的點 X

搞了半天...在外型性能加上學生專案的考量下
雖然上一次相處只能算有點滿意
還是決定給APPLE MBP一次機會
再跟他相處一次!
但是可惡的STEVE JOBS非要我等到2008 /6/9才會讓我們知道
MBP到底在我八月出國前會不會大改
目前的MBP實在不夠格稱為"頂級"電腦
知道越多就越難選....
我到底是買苦惱還是買電腦??

決定買MBP後卻因為朋友的一句玩笑話

這樣就省了400美金
不想要vista ultimate
因為我要64bit的ultimate
這樣又省下150美金
硬碟...
我打死之後會換雙SSD或雙7200轉硬碟作RAID
所以也不用一次到頂
雙160G RAID 0到320G先頂著用
這樣又省下快400美金
RAM
SONY佛心免費加1G不加白不加
回來再拔下賣掉加到4G
應該花不到一千
前天去幫廖妹的TZ換成2G也才15XX
我在64bit VISTA下 4G可以全用^^沒有浪費的問題

那連日本都不能用
別想叫我買
扣到一堆用不到的軟體與安裝費用
AR這台旗艦加完稅只要5萬多台幣爽啊!!
能到那麼低價~歐美日台四地只有美國能這樣弄
日本機因為FELICA、地上波受訊等機能一定要有~!
所以在日本sony style VAIO　A系列基本售價低不過美國VAIO　AR
但那些機能基本上我們是用不到的

就性能面來說
才勉強接近我五萬多的AR一點
哈哈哈...爽阿
為何爽
因為12"~15"本來就是筆電的主力市場
這個代域的筆電數量遠高於更大或更小SIZE的筆電總和
在供需的市場越大量的商品
理論上一定要比小眾的商品便宜
但今天台規的SZ卻比VAIO旗艦貴....
這沒道理吧??
如果你說TZ提高效能比AR貴...我就還比較能接受
因為小型化是一個很高的難度
AR還有RAID這個比較少在筆電出現的特異機能
等SSD64G降到我可以的價格我就來雙SSD RAID
保證快到翻掉^^
8920G可是沒RAID可以玩的^^
現今筆電大多數的效能還是硬碟在拖累
顯示卡....@@我不玩GAME的
況且8920G上的9650沒有比8600好上很多
17"筆電重??
還好吧...p25-S670我都帶著走來走去好多年了
3.9KG 比Alvin剛出生才重一點^^
五萬多的AR
剛好有需要我卻不買?
我就呆了我

WHY說他雞肋??
因為他又好用又"可惜"
說可惜是因為可惡的O2竟然把它拋棄不為它提供OFFICIAL 的wm6.1 ROM
又有一個純粹好看用的GPU....
話說
BUG為了最近的大事戰備中
當然要將手邊的工具最佳化

昨天裝完字典與八月會用的到的工具後
想要裝個touchui HOME來跟廖妹的iphone拼一下(幫她升級後...越來越棒的iphone)
沒想到竟然不給我用(網路有外國人在英文版的FLAME裝成功了)
我腦中的某條神經就斷了...接著我就爆發了
決定不睡也要把我的FLAME弄到最炫
立刻爬一堆文
打死今天把它弄完

簡體ROM除了O2 BACK UP無法將之前在繁中介面下的BACKUP REATORE回來外
大體上沒啥問題
但....沒必要我真的不想用簡體介面
我最想要的英文版+中文輸入
目前抓得到最新的cock版本在裝完軟體後
螢幕會無法觸控
所以想辦法把簡中的自動安裝檔COPY到SD卡中
然後改完英文版的ROM(os 5.2.19209)後不要自動安裝軟體
目前看起來OK中...持續測試中

目前FLAME為英文介面Wm6.1+小熊工作室的中文支援(正黑體...這個程式只有讓PDA手機可看跟寫繁體中文^^)
大體上都可以用
上了目前最需要的Dr.eye 2.0跟Mdict2.5
Mdict2.5的簡單發音檔一路找到越南才找到
大陸一堆鏈結但是幾乎都下不來@@
有需要的請mail給我48Mb的基本發音檔
Mdict的editc字典單字少很多
像cytoplasm,mitochondria都收不到

o2 theme移除沒有比較快
推測是這個ROM沒有針對REG最佳化

1．MediaCenterSkin 看名字就知道啦，是Windows Media Player的皮肤，当然你不装O2MediaPlus.CAB就用不到的。
2．Network 这个就是自动安装各国的GPRS的设置。如果不安装autoconfig_en.cab也就用不到。也可以自己设置GPRS。
3．autoconfig_en.cab 参考第2点。
4．BTADDR.CFG BT 的ADDR
5．CABList.txt自动安装的软件保存列表。
6．CabVersion.Txt就是显示extROM Version 版本信息，喜欢改什么就改什么，也可以删除。删除后，后面这句WWE_RM_070516就变空白。
7．Camera.CAB照相机驱动，不安装就只能用前面的30W摄相头。
8．CellBroadcast.CAB小区广播？？？应该是控制FM的设置用的。
9．devonecwpro6.CAB可以管理你的个人密码、银行信息、信用卡细节、手机PIN码、旅行计划、保险规划、注册信息或是重要节日礼物清单等。对我来说没用。
10．FMRadio.CAB
11．FMRadioRDS.CAB FM收音机。
12．Java.CAB Java模拟器。
13．Midi_Engine.CAB Midi播放插件。
14．MMS.CAB彩信插件。
15．O2AutoInst.CAB O2软件安装器。
16．o2Connect.cab这个就是连上O2官网，看新闻的。
17．O2CPLPROP.CAB面板增强插件，非常重要，没了它，就不能调背光，CPU的省电控制也没了。
18．O2MediaPlus.CAB O2的多媒体控件。
19．O2PhonePlus.cab电话防火墙。
20．O2SMSPlus.cab是彩信，还是短信插件呢？反正我不用。哈哈。
21．O2THEMES.CAB桌面增强插件。
22．PDF.CAB pdf的阅读器.
23．RC.CAB RemoteControl就是红外线遥控器。
24．Self_Diagnostic.CAB O2自带的自检程序。
25．SMSBackup.CAB短信备份。
26．SRS_cab.CAB音效驱动。
27．VideoTelephony.CAB 用3G打视频电话用的驱动。
28．wifisychip.CAB热点WiFi驱动。 <----這個用efn的ROM的話要自己裝...不然無法管理wifi
29．WorldMate_SE_English.cab世界时间软件。世界地图时区显示。
